The popular NFT Doodles project closed a strong brand partnership this week. According to the project’s new CEO, Julian Holguin, singer and music producer Pharrell Williams will be the project’s new Chief Brand Officer (CBO). By the way, Holguin himself came from Billboard and has been CEO since May. He made the announcement during a private event at NFT.NYC, the NFT conference taking place in New York. An advertisement for Williams’ entry was shown at the Palladium Theatre, venue of the event. “I’m a big fan of the brand. We’re going to build from the core community and take Doodles to new heights, new levels,” the singer said in the video. In addition to CBO, Williams will act as a partner on the project. In this sense, the producer will produce an album inspired by the collection of NFTs. Titled Doodles Records: Volume 1, the album will be released in partnership with Columbia Records. But neither Doodle nor the label have revealed the album’s release date.

Doodles are a collection of 10,000 NFTs made up of assorted images. Designed by artist Burnt Toast, the hallmark of Doodles is the variety of colors, features and sizes. Each Doodle allows its owner to vote on experiences and activations paid for by the collection’s common fund. One such experience was the collection’s private panel, which only holders of a Doodle could enter. That same night, Holguin announced two other new additions to the collection. First, that the project raised a funding round led by Initialized Capital, the venture capital firm of Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of the website Reddit. Holguin, however, did not reveal how much the Doodle captured. Then, the executive recognized that the prices of the Doodle collection made it inaccessible to small collectors. Therefore, the company is developing “Doodles 2”, a more affordable version of the collection, which will be built on Ethereum. The event was NFT’s second in-person meeting for Doodles, which also participated in the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. There, the project set up a warehouse facility as well as a goods store.

Collections seek alternatives

Since the cryptocurrency market entered a sharp correction, NFT collections have looked for alternatives to deal with devaluations. In this way, the biggest projects aim to create revenue streams and attract big names to reinforce their brands. The CryptoPunks collection also acted in this regard, bringing Noah Davis to be the brand’s CBO. Davis was head of digital sales at Christie’s auction house and started the company’s NFT auctions. With the signing of Williams, Doodle has seen a 1,175% spike in its trading volume in the last 24 hours. The minimum price of a Doodle has increased a little, going from 13.9 Ether (ETH) to 15.3 ETH (approximately BRL 85,000 in current values).
