Samson Mow, a famous bitcoin maximalist and former CSO of Blockstream, said that only three options available for building bitcoin technology can help the digital currency evolve in the future. Distancing from advertising and other “silliness”, the maximalist believes that the community should focus on technology currently under construction. To that end, Mow stated that traditional activism doesn’t work very well for bitcoin, nor does artwork, street signs, and the like.
“Traditional activism does not work in Bitcoin. Proof of work means that if you want to affect Bitcoin in a meaningful way, you need to do some real work. Do not advertise, do not display posters in the street and do not order works of art.”

What are the three options for evolving bitcoin, in the maximalist’s view?
Believing that the entire traditional monetary system, the “legacy”, will end up failing due to its great corruption, Samson Mow said that advertising, for example, can even help bitcoin, but very little. That’s because, as a disruptive technology, bitcoin needs much more than that to remain in the spotlight worldwide. First, the maximalist asked that true bitcoin activists learn to program and start contributing to the evolution of the code. The call gains even more prominence in a context where former contributors to the code have abandoned their roles in the recent past.

Another highlight that Mow gives to the sustainable growth of bitcoin in the long term involves its mining. That’s because he believes that an investment of up to 100 million dollars could bring new energy-efficient machines to the market. Therefore,
“2) Invest $50-100 million in research and development of more efficient ASICs. Only sell to miners who use what you consider to be green energy. Allow them to outrun other miners.”
In the third and final option, following mining, Samson says that an investment of billions of dollars in green energy could change the history of bitcoin.
“3) Invest billions in green energy infrastructure and provide hosting for #Bitcoin miners at a lower cost than any energy you deem dirty.”
