Cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced on Thursday the creation of its new Global Advisory Board (GAB) to “drive the future of Web 3.0”. As reported by Binance in an announcement to CriptoFácil, renowned experts in public policy, government, finance, economics and corporate governance will be part of the board. Representing Brazil is Henrique de Campos Meirelles, former minister of the economy.
Binance Global Advisory Board
According to Binance, the leader of the board is former Senator and former US Ambassador to China Max Baucus. He joined Binance in March of last year. Baucus will lead the team consisting of Bruno Bezard, former head of the French Treasury; Henrique Meirelles; former European Commissioner David Wright; and other leaders from Nigeria, Korea, South Africa, Mexico, Germany and the United Kingdom. “Now we can officially share the names of the experts who make up the new GAB. This agreement highlights our commitment to compliance and transparency. And it is the guarantee of a collaborative and trusting relationship with the world’s regulators,” said CZ in a tweet this Thursday. The creation of the board is Binance’s flagship initiative to advance regulatory issues. After all, last year, the exchange was targeted by several regulators around the world who warned about its irregular performance.
Focus on regulatory issues in the crypto world
According to the exchange, the idea of GAB is to guide Binance through some of the most complex regulatory, political and social issues facing the crypto industry as a whole as it grows and evolves. “For the past five years, Binance has pioneered the fascinating world of crypto, blockchain and Web 3.0,” said CZ. “In the meantime, we have faced complex issues that we were not aware of. But we kept our focus on developing compliance solutions to protect the interests of crypto users. At the same time, we keep advancing innovations that benefit society at a rapid pace.” Meanwhile, Baucus pointed out that of all the technologies that can create positive disruption, the world of crypto, blockchain and Web 3.0 is among the most promising. “Therefore, it is a great pleasure to participate in the creation of the Binance Council and to bring this group of unparalleled expertise together to support the resolution of complex problems with socially positive results,” he said. Meirelles said that blockchain and cryptocurrencies will set the tone for the financial services of the future. In addition, they will offer great benefits to economies, promoting financial inclusion. “This council, made up of renowned experts in a variety of fields, will play an important role in helping this nascent and growing industry establish itself as regulations around the world develop, so that we can work to build an ecosystem safe and sustainable for everyone,” he said.
