Binance made a presentation of its solutions and the cryptocurrency market to promoters in the State of São Paulo, an action that teaches investigative agents to better interact with digital currencies. This is not the first time that Binance has trained for public bodies in Brazil. Last June, for example, Binance conducted a workshop for Federal Police investigators and guest agencies in Brasília. In addition, in August it offered similar training to prosecutors and investigators from the Special Action Group in Combating Organized Crime (GAECO) of the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Binance Introduced Cryptocurrencies to São Paulo Promoters

Binance held during the last few days of this week two presentations to Brazilian investigative and law enforcement authorities. The move is part of the exchange’s work to show the fundamentals of the market to deepen understanding of cryptocurrencies and blockchain. The trainings help to strengthen the work of prevention, investigation and fight against financial illicit. To help with capacity building, Binance’s investigations department spoke with prosecutors from the São Paulo Public Ministry’s specialized groups, the first of its kind in the country’s main financial center. The other training took place during the International Human Rights Congress of the Federal Police, an authority that has carried out several operations against crimes involving cryptocurrencies in recent years.

What was taught?

During the trainings, Binance experts covered the main concepts of cryptocurrencies and blockchain, as well as AML (anti-money laundering) policies made by the exchange. In addition, the processes and tools developed by the brokerage to collaborate with authorities were all presented to the investigators. The PF congress that took place in Maceió, capital of Alagoas, took place between August 30 and September 1. Binance’s presentation to promoters in São Paulo was last Thursday (1). Speakers Tigran Gambaryan (Global Vice President of Intelligence and Investigations) and Matt Price (Head of Intelligence and Investigations at Binance Americas) participated. Both experts are former special criminal investigation agents in the IRS’s cyber crimes unit, the United States Internal Revenue Service. Another who spoke to the investigators was Renato Barreto, a specialist in Binance Investigations in Latin America, a reference in cryptocurrency investigations and a former public prosecutor of the State of Rio de Janeiro. In the Latin region, Binance Paraguay also trained investigation servers in the country, indicating that training work does not only occur in Brazil.
