The positive tone of this publication was also supported by the positive revision of last month’s reading (to 315,000 from 263,000) and data on wage inflation. It turned out that the average hourly wage increased by as much as 0.4% on a monthly basis. It is worth noting, however, that despite the change in employment by as much as 261,000 and the positive revision of the previous reading, the unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to 3.7 percent after it fell from this level to 3.5 percent a month ago.
