Former president of the Central Bank of Brazil, Henrique Meirelles participated in a meeting with entrepreneurs and presented Binance’s business, being excited about his work at the Bitcoin brokerage. With an outstanding career in the public and private sectors, Meirelles is known for solving difficult situations, which earned him the phrase “when things get complicated, call Meirelles”. In fact, Meirelles has extensive experience in the banking sector and in economics, which today qualifies him to be Binance’s Global Advisor in Brazil. The country is vital for the broker as it has the highest trading volume in the Latin American region.
Henrique Meirelles presents Binance to entrepreneurs
Henrique Meirelles joined Binance’s global team in early September 2022, when the company declared that the former president of Bacen and former Minister of Finance would be on its team. After the announcement, the financial market even saw Henrique support one of the candidates for President of the Republic in the 2022 elections. Despite many considering that the passage through the brokerage would be short, Meirelles ruled out a return to an eventual Lula government and said that he would continue with Binance until you complete your mission. And his mission boils down to helping the brokerage to find its way among regulators not only in Brazil, but in the world. As Meirelles has experience with Basel regulations, he will be able to contribute to this advance. Last Tuesday (27), Henrique Meirelles participated in a meeting with businessmen Nei Jorge Feniar, administrator of the Habib’s/Ragazzo network, actor and presenter Luigi Baricelli and several others also participated. Everyone stopped to listen to Meirelles, who recently assumed the post of global advisor to the Binance exchange, which trades, among other assets, cryptocurrencies. At the beginning of his presentation, Meirelles said in a humorous tone to the participants that “the people are excited, a sign that business is going well”. In addition to cryptocurrencies, the current Binance Advisor commented on Brazil’s politics.
What is Meirelles’ tip for Brazil to improve?
The audience of approximately 60 people, including senior executives, entrepreneurs and investors, heard Meirelles talk about strategies he has put into practice, lessons learned during his years of operation, Brazil risk, inflation and deflation, dollar, predictability, projections for the future. But what many wanted to hear was about the prospects for the Brazilian economy in the new government – on the eve of the first round of the presidential elections that will take place this Sunday, October 2nd. According to Meirelles, the tip he would give for Brazil to improve is to observe who will be the new president and then invest in education, which is the pillar of the country’s development.
“After the election, we should look at who is in charge, what they are planning and verify the economic thinking. I really admire what has been done in Singapore. Once, during a World Bank meeting, I asked one of those responsible: ‘what did you do in Singapore to get to this condition?’ He replied ‘There were three things: investment in education, investment in education and investment in education’. It is fundamental.”
About investing in education, Meirelles also said that it is up to each entrepreneur to promote training for their workers, which can help a lot in the future of companies.
“Even you businessmen should invest in this, in training workers.”
