Windows 11 22H2 is the name of the biggest update that Windows will receive during 2022Available, represents the move from the two annual updates of Windows 10 to these onlyWhat are the improvements that we liked the most and how useful are they for users?

22H2 is already among us. This is one of the big updates to the latest version of the Microsoft OS. Redmond released this “Sun Valley 2” code update during development just a few days ago. However, What are the main new features of Windows 11 22H2 that you should consider?

The first thing we must bear in mind, although it is not a novelty as such, is that 22H2 kicks off Windows 11’s new annual major update cycle, leaving Windows 10’s hectic six-month cycle behind. This will also determine its name, since it is called that because it was designed during the second part of 2022.

This free update will be offered through Windows Update on Windows 11 PCs, and you should be able to see it as one more option at the top of the Settings window, Windows Update. But assuming you don’t want to wait that long, you can always perform a manual update, without so much delay.

What’s new in Windows 11 22H2

That said, we are now going to focus on what we believe are the most important changes. As usual, Microsoft offers bug fixes, performance improvements, security patches, and minor tweaks to the operating system, but we’re going to focus on just the essentials.

A new task manager

Windows 11 has an updated and modernized Task Manager with some new features. Among them, the Task Manager interface now looks much more integrated with the Windows environment.

Its original functions remain but the navigation is much more fluid, and we even have support for dark modesomething that Microsoft had been asking for a long time for the best sensations it transmits.

In the Processes there is an Efficiency Mode option, which you can manually enable on various processes to reduce your electricity usageso do not forget to take it into account if you want to save some energy.

Tabs in File Explorer

File Explorer finally has its tabs, years after Microsoft removed the Sets feature. It should be noted that not everyone has access to the tabs, but should be a fact from this November.

The tabs work as you would expect, since it is the same as in the browsers that we use on a daily basis. When we open more than one location tabs open, and we can move from one to another more easily.

Start menu improvements

Folders for app shortcuts are making a comeback to the Start menu in this 2022 update. It works the same as on mobile platforms like iPhone, iPad, and Android, so you’ll get used to it quickly.

In the start menu area, simply drag and drop an app icon onto another app icon. You will thus have a folder containing both icons, which makes a lot of sense in terms of productivity.

Also, you can choose specific layouts for these folders from Settings, Personalization, Home.

Drag and drop to taskbar

If there was one thing I missed after upgrading to Windows 11, it was the ability to drag and drop items to the taskbar.the function that I use the most on a day-to-day basis and that unfortunately was no longer there.

There are no modifications with respect to what we knew since it is only necessary to drag and drop in the folder or application to which we want to send that file, going to the window to be able to be more specific.

Two new apps, including a video editor

Windows 11 now has two new built-in apps: Clipchamp and Family, which are game-changers. Microsoft pretends that we no longer have to install so many third-party applicationsand it goes in that direction.

Clipchamp is a video editor that Microsoft acquired in 2021 and was previously paid, but has ceased to be. It has a free edition and maintains the optional paid monthly subscriptions, which will be worth it for those who want to go a step further, because they are not included in the standard Microsoft 365 subscription. A must-have when editing videos, it is the spiritual successor of the beloved Windows Movie Maker.

Windows also includes a family app, which falls under the Microsoft Family Safety concept. Help parents set time limits for their kids in apps and games.

So is it worth upgrading?

None of these features that we have mentioned are really innovative, but they make for a solid and substantial update, with a lot of known and unknown optimizations that we appreciate.

Of course, over time it will be impossible to remember which of these changes appeared in this update and which features came in the original version of Windows 11, but the important thing is the final experience that you get.

And remember that If you’re not already using Windows 11, you can install this version of Windows for free.as long as your PC meets the somewhat demanding requirements that Microsoft has put in place to allow the update.
