Top AI-powered products unveiled at CES 2023

CES 2023 brought a host of eye-catching products, and the AI industry was not far behind.

With various AI-powered products, some very flashy, some useful and some very curious, we came across some interesting things.

This year we have seen incredible things at the Consumer Electronics show (CES), it is the largest event related to technology held in Las Vegas. Most surprising have been the products driven for AI That this CES 2023 has left us, we were really shocked by several of these.

Of course, AI comes in different guises, even if not everything that is advertised as AI is, in fact, actual artificial intelligence. Although we always find lost diamonds in the rough out there, like Samsung’s oven with AI, which can automatically adjust the cooking settings for a perfect meal.

AI-powered products at CES 2023

AI powered oven

One of the AI-powered products from CES 2023 that we have been waiting for is that of Samsung. Who introduced us to a new oven and refrigerator that’s part of their Bespoke Home line of smart appliances. However, it is not just any kind of oven.

The Bespoke IA Oven has an internal camera and various sensors that proactively recognize different dishes and ingredients to help optimize cooking settings. It is capable of sending a warning notification when it detects that the food is burning. He can even recommend different meals for us in case we have no idea what we can cook.

You can even stream a live stream of what’s cooking on different platforms like Twitch, crazy as that sounds. Obviously, this is not an artificial intelligence function, but we do not deny that it is quite striking.

Moving on to the 4-Door Flex, this smart fridge has an AI camera that scans all food labels to make a list of what’s in stock and what’s missing.

AI TVs

Samsung also introduced its new line of TVs that have an auto-HDR mode that is obviously powered by AI. The Neo QLEDs offer auto HDR Remastering, according to the company “Use AI deep learning technology to analyze and apply high dynamic range effects in real time on any standard dynamic range content scene by scene.”

Simply put, the system analyzes the non-HDR content with the HDR material, uses machine learning to analyze the differences, and then performs the appropriate conversions.

But Samsung is not the only one to present this class of televisions. LG was also on hand with the 2023 Z3, G3 and C3 OLED TVs, all of which have a mode that can automatically detect and refine different targets for truer colors. There’s also AI Sound Pro, which attempts to emulate surround sound setup using only the built-in stereo TV speakers.

Lightning

adaptive lighting.

Focused on gamers who want to get a more immersive experience, Govee introduced us to the IA Gaming Sync Box Kit. Maybe it’s a bit complicated, let’s say that the technology behind the IA Gaming Sync Box Kit is the competition to the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box and to the innovative Sync+ from Nanoleaf.

Using AI trained on images from hundreds of video games, the set-top box syncs the smart lights via HDMI and Wi-Fi with any video game you’re playing. One of almost 30 lighting effects is activated when we get some achievements or for different events that happen as we go.

The same company explained: “When we achieve a ‘triple elimination’ in some competitive shooter game, custom lighting effects will be displayed with almost zero delay. With Govee AI, the products do not transfer data to the cloud, but instead transmit the data directly locally, ensuring maximum privacy protection.”

In terms of utility, Govee says that this AI-based technology manages to mitigate the problems that light sync boxes often have, such as low color capture accuracy and slow performance.

A GPU improvement

One of the AI-powered products unveiled at CES 2023

For its part, NVIDIA cannot be left behind and wants to improve old and blurry old videos from applications such as YouTube. At their CES presentation, they demoed RTX Video Super Resolution. This is a new feature coming soon to all NVIDIA 30 and 40 series GPUs.

When enabled, it upscales videos played in Chrome and Edge browsers on any PC to 4K equivalent. We could say that it is a function very similar to the one that we have already had available for a long time in NVIDIA Shield TV and Shield TV Pro.

From what we can see at PCGamer, RTX Video Super Resolution, also capable of sharpening and reducing artifacts in videos, supports resolutions starting at 360p all the way up to 1440p, up to a frame rate of 144Hz.

autonomous strollers

Baby strollers.

We have a lot about autonomous cars, it’s time for the little ones in the house to also have their strollers and this is where Ella from the Canadian startup Gluxkind comes into play.

It is a “hands-free” motorized stroller that makes use of artificial intelligence to detect obstacles and hazards on the pavement. It is packed with sensors, including various cameras. It can drive itself when empty, keep up with parents while they are carrying their baby, and stop automatically if it detects an obstacle.

Integrated cameras can detect parked and moving objects, such as people or bicycles, with alert notifications of collision hazards using sounds and flashing lights on the handle. Ella’s motors help propel manually, assist on grades, and brake automatically when stopped or going downhill.

We can also find other interesting things like a “rock my baby” function that rocks the car back and forth on the same wheels. We even found an app for our mobile device that is responsible for tracking routes and distance, which is used to locate the stroller in case it gets lost. It may not be one of the products with IA from CES 2023 that made the most impact, but the possibilities and applications for the future are striking.

Watch facing fatigue

Smart watch to fight fatigue.

Citizen also had its place this year and surprises us with its second generation CZ smartwatch. The 2023 CZ Smart that comes with Wear OS 3 has what Citizen calls an AI-powered “self-care advisor.”

It leverages IBM Watson technology, attempting to determine a user’s “chronotype” after collecting a week’s worth of sleep data to give us tips that can help us avoid fatigue.

But to have better recommendations, users can take gamified tests based on the NASA Psychomotor Vigilance Test. This was originally developed to provide ISS astronauts with feedback on their fatigue levels.

The CZ Smart combines the results to calculate a kind of alert score that presents the level of tiredness of the person at a specific moment. Although CZ Smart is not the first device to track sleep to help us sleep better. Samsung, Apple and Fitbit, among several others, offer the same.

A robot picker of peppers

The robot that picks peppers is one of the AI-powered products presented at CES 2023

Yes, just as you are reading it. If you are a pepper grower, then this will surely interest you, if not, at least as curiosity serves.

Developed by Japanese ag-tech startup Agrist, the robot is capable of identifying and picking “ready-to-harvest” peppers, detecting it even if the peppers are covered by leaves. To achieve this, it makes use of a combination of cameras and computer vision models that are delivered for different parts of the pepper, the robot being able to identify the position, size and maturity of each, as well as the cutting point. .

To move, it uses suspension cables that can be added and adapted to the farms we already know. A mechanical arm does the picking and cutting, leaving the harvested peppers in a collection box. The startup claims that the robot’s software is able to predict the volume of the crop and offer different suggestions on how to optimize growth by collecting data and analyzing the number of days it takes to ripen.
